Winterlude 2010 – better than ever!
Every February, Canada’s Capital Region is host to Winterlude, North America’s greatest winter celebration. Three fun-filled weekends of excitement and activity await the whole family! From spectacular ice carvings to an amazing playground made of snow, Winterlude is a great way to take in the best of our Canadian winter.
The Lord Elgin Hotel in Ottawa has always been a favorite for those coming to take in this ever popular winter festival. Winter Getaway Package – from $189 per night
Stay at the Lord Elgin Hotel, where you are at the heart of the best winter activities including Winterlude, our famous Winter Festival. Overlooking Confederation Park, home to the International Ice Carving Competition, you could not find a better vantage point. The Rideau Canal, now in the Guinness Book of Records as the Longest Skating Rink in the World, is located only one block from the hotel.

27th Annual Winterlude Triathlon ($)

February 6, 9 am to 11 am. Skate! Ski! Run! What could be more fun? Enjoy an 8-km skate, a 5-km ski and a 5-km run.

2nd Annual Great Canadian Beaver Cup Pond Hockey Championship ($)
Rideau Canal Skateway (Dows Lake)
Friday, February 12, 5 pm to 8 pm, Saturday, February 13, 9 am to 8 pm and Sunday, February 14, 9 am to 3 pm. Fast, exciting four-on-four hockey action — with 30 teams from across Canada. Enjoy a special game on Sunday at noon for the Mascots on Ice challenge, featuring local celebrities.

Canadian Ski Marathon ($)

The annual two-day event features 10 sections that cover 160 kilometres of beauty and tranquility in the Quebec countryside: from Lachute to Gatineau, with an overnight stop in Montebello.

February 19 to 21. The largest cross-country ski event in Canada, held in Gatineau Park. Come and take part in the family activities of the 32nd edition of this event!

Learn to Carve
Confederation Park (Rogers Crystal Garden Stage)
Saturday and Sunday, February 20 and 21, 10:45 am, 2 pm and 4 pm. This demonstration will show you the secrets of ice carving, how the carvers use their tools and how they can create a piece of art from a block of ice.
The Winterman Marathon and Marathon Relays ($)
Sunday, February 21: Races start at 8:30 am
Starts and ends at the Canadian War Museum. A celebration of running in the Canadian winter, for all ages. Solo runs include marathon, half-marathon, 10-km, 5-km and 3-km. Marathon relays include pairs, fours and eights. Proceeds will be donated to Search and Rescue Global 1.
