Winterlude 2010 – better than ever!

Every February, Canada’s Capital Region is host to Winterlude, North America’s greatest winter celebration. Three fun-filled weekends of excitement and activity await the whole family! From spectacular ice carvings to an amazing playground made of snow, Winterlude is a great way to take in the best of our Canadian winter.

The Lord Elgin Hotel in Ottawa has always been a favorite for those coming to take in this ever popular winter festival. 27th Annual Winterlude Triathlon ($)

Rideau Canal Skateway (Dows Lake) Saturday
February 6, 9 am to 11 am. Skate! Ski! Run! What could be more fun? Enjoy an 8-km skate, a 5-km ski and a 5-km run.

2nd Annual Great Canadian Beaver Cup Pond Hockey Championship ($)

Rideau Canal Skateway (Dows Lake)

Learn to Carve

Confederation Park (Rogers Crystal Garden Stage)
Saturday and Sunday, February 20 and 21, 10:45 am, 2 pm and 4 pm. This demonstration will show you the secrets of ice carving, how the carvers use their tools and how they can create a piece of art from a block of ice.

The Winterman Marathon and Marathon Relays ($)

Sunday, February 21: Races start at 8:30 am
Starts and ends at the Canadian War Museum. A celebration of running in the Canadian winter, for all ages. Solo runs include marathon, half-marathon, 10-km, 5-km and 3-km. Marathon relays include pairs, fours and eights. Proceeds will be donated to Search and Rescue Global 1.
